Maisnam Meiraba wins Russian U19 Junior White Nights International Badminton Tournament 2019 title

Maisnam Meiraba of India has made the country and his home state proud by winning the Russian Junior White Nights International Badminton Tournament 2019 in a foreign soil Russia. The young boy from Manipur has won national titles many times in his categories. He has also won several medal at the international badminton tournaments. However this is a spectacular achievement as it is his first ever winning title at U-19 singles category.

The the young boy bagged the gold medal in the U-19 singles title in the tournament organised by National Badminton Federation of Russia held at St Petersburg, Gatchina, Russia since July 4 under BWF / Badminton Europe.

Meiraba did not have to struggle much to his title. He beat Russian player Vsevolod by 21-7, 21-14 points in the first round, then dominated Ethiopia’s Hans-Kristjan Pilve by 21-12, 21-8 points to reach the quarter final.

Meiraba kept his momentum going on and subdued Surasit Ariyabaraneekul of Thailand in the quarter final by 21-15, 21-12 points.

Meiraba beat Russia’s Georgii Karpov 24-22, 21-13 in the semi-final before defeating his Indian colleague Varun Kapur 21-5, 21-9 to clinch his first ever
U-19 singles title on foreign soil.

He recently grabbed  U-19 boys’ singles title at the Yonex – Sunrise All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2019 at Chennai held  at Chennai.
