Taekwondo players Leimram Joypriya Chanu and Sunila Thokchom of Manipur won gold medals at the All India Inter University Taekwondo (Men & Women) Championships 2016 organised by Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).
In the champinships, national games medalist Leimram Joypriya Chanu won gold medal in women’s 67kg category. Team mate Sunila Thokchom also won gold medal in women’s 73kg category. Basanti won bronze medal in women’s 57kg category.

The Manipur women’s team won 2nd runners up title in the championship. The championship was held from 17th to 21st March at Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Punjab. As many as 70 women and 80 men from all over the country took part in the championship.
