India’s 15-year old weightlifter Konsam Ormila Devi made the country proud once again by winning gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2017, Australia. The young lifter clinched gold medal in youth girls’ 44kg weight category.

Ormila lifted 57kg in snatch and 76kg in clean & jerk for an overall total of 133kg to become champion in her category and bag the gold medal for India on the opening day of the championships which is being held at Gold Coast City, Australia. The championships will continue till September 10, 2017 .

Recently, Konsam Ormila won a gold medal in the ongoing 19th Asian Youth (Boys & Girls) Weightlifting Championships 2017, Kathmandu in Nepal.
Konsam Ormila had earlier won gold medals in 10th National Youth (Sub-Junior Boys and Girls) Weightlifting Championship 2015, North East Games 2016. She represented India at the 2017 IWF Youth World Championships Bangkok, Thailand.
She is the daughter of Konsam Harichandra and Konsam Bemi from Langathel Laikom Market of Thoubal district in Manipur

Mention also may be made that five young Manipuri weightlifters were selected by the Indian Weightlifting Federation to represent India in Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships 2017, Gold Coast City, Australia. The lifters were: Konsam Ormila (44kg), Meitram Purnima Chanu (53kg), P Umeshwori (63kg), Seram Nirupama (69kg) and Arambam Anju (75kg). The lifters also represented India in 19th Asian Youth (Boys & Girls) Weightlifting Championships 2017, Kathmandu in Nepal.
