Arambam Boby wins sixth world bodybuilding title, dominates the world

There is no stoppage of Arambam Boby! Now it is a history! The man from Manipur has made India proud again and created a history for India. Defending world champion Arambam Boby who has won Asian title in the recently concluded  51st Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship 2017 again dominated his competitors of the world en route to his 6th world title on the second day of the ongoing 9th WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2017 Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Ealier, Jayaprakash and Nongmaithem Sarbo won gold and bronze medals respectively in men’s 75kg category.

Arambam Boby competed in senior men’s 80kg and won the prize. The Assam based Manipuri bodybuilder who is working in Railways department has made hat-trick titles twice. He won world titles in 2010, 2011 and 2012 thereby to become the first Indian to make a hat-trick in world bodybuilding chaampionships. He repeated the same feat in 2015, 2016 and in this edition of 9th WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2017 to make his second hat-trick. Now, he has become the first and only Indian bodybuilder to win six world bodybuilding championships titles.

In this ongoing 9th WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championships 2017, Leitanthem Dinesh and Laitonjam Rishikanta won gold medals to become world championships. Out of the eight Manipuri bodybuilders who have represented India, six have won medals. Kongbrailatpam Rebita and Chandam Indira won 4th and 5th places in women’s above 55kg and master men’s above 60kg categories respectively. Not bad at all but a superb performance by Manipuri bodybuilders.
